MFP: WEEK 3 5K UPDATE

Last week did not go as planned. It also involved a GIANT cookie cake that seemed to never go away!

I definitely feel around 5 pounds heavier than I was last week :-( I stepped on the scale for the first time in months...let's just say I wanted to cry. Sigh....Instead, I'm turning the sadness into motivation. This week I'm going to really try hard to stick to my workouts and eating clean. My goal is to lose at least 3 pounds this week. Let's see how I progress!

WEEK 3:

7/30/12
I ran and walked 1.5 miles today and did about 20 minutes of pilates. Feeling good but know I can push myself harder the rest of the week. After-all, I have a cookie cake butt I need to work on!

For dinner tonight, I grilled 2 large cap mushrooms halves with spinach and cheese on top with some grilled peppers (not sure what they are called they look like giant jalepano peppers, but not spicy)! I should have taken a picture to post, it looked so yummy!

Eating clean definitely makes me feel so much better! After all the wine and cookie cake this weekend my body is SCREAMING at me!

Moving on....

I found an amazing new polish this weekend as well! Of course it looks Coral, but you can't really tell from the pic. It's super pretty. Love it!

I hope everyone feels a bit more motivated by today's post. I'd love to hear from others about their fitness challenges and weekend downfalls! Mostly so I don't feel so guilty, cause I know I'm not alone out there! :-)

7/31/12
I ran 1.30 miles and did about 20 minutes of pilates. Loving the coral so I wore another coral shirt. I was feeling a little sluggish and had to force myself to get motivate. Sometimes I just don't have ANY energy!

8/1/12
Doing good so far this week. Onto day 3 of the week and have accomplished something each day! So far this is a big improvement! It makes such a difference being home rather than traveling for work and trying to keep a routine.

I decided to get out and go for a run outside. By my house there are some great running/biking trails, so I decided to get out and get some sun while getting some exercise. I ran/walked around 1.60 miles. I was so sweaty and exhausted when I got back to the house I skipped the pilates. I definitely am feeling a few pounds lighter from Monday...even if it was probably just water weight from last week! I'll take anything at this point! :-D

More to come :-)

MFP: MY 1ST 5K RUN

I've decided to sign Bob and myself up for our first 5K run. It will be November 3rd @ 5pm in Houston, TX. Its a night run where you deck yourself out with glo-in-the-dark gear and accessories. Bob thought I was insane, but I'm pumped for a new challenge.

I've never prepared for a race before and I thought it would be awesome to track my progress and see what sort of transformation my body will undergo.

WEEK 1:

7/16/12
Ran what I think was 3 miles on the treadmill at my hotel since I'm in Odessa, TX for work this week.

7/18/12
Thought it was going to be a good idea to run around UTPB's nature trial at 4pm with what feels like 100 degree temps!! Bad idea. I about died the first 1/2 mile into my run and pretty much walked the majority of the rest.

My second run has me feeling a bit defeated, but that's alright, at least I got out there and finished 2 miles in the blazing heat.

After-all, the goal is not only to prepare my mind and body for the 5K, but to become more physically fit!!

I'm attaching some pics of my before (today) and will post more pics of my journey throughout. Check them out at the bottom of the page. I'm excited to see what happens to my big butt!! ;-)

Stay tuned...will post more soon!

In case you want to join in with us the company's website is www.fireflyrun.com. We already have a group of people joined up so the more the better!!

MFP: MY LONDON TRIP

Trip to London!

At the end of June I was able to visit London for work. While my schedule did not permit much sightseeing, I did manage to snap a few photos while walking around the City Centre of Leeds, UK.

Check out some of the photos!

I couldn't believe how amazing the seafood selection was at all the restaurants I went to either. The 2 pictures above were from an old post office building built over 100+ years ago remodeled into usable space. No central air...but Amazeballs otherwise!

It took me almost the whole week to get adjusted to the time change when I arrived, and about just as long when I returned back to the states. I would have to say that is probably the only down side to international travel.

Overall, the trip was short but sweet! The last time I was able to visit London it was under horrible weather conditions and I was all alone, so this trip made up for the bad experience.

More to come soon...stay tuned!

MFP: MY 1ST BLOG POST!

July 7th, 2012 @ 6:40pm

I begin my first post as a newbie Blogger! I've contemplated starting a blog but never thought people would actually want to read what all I have to say :-) At this point in my life I have come to the realization that I do not really care if people want to hear me...I'm going to tell the world about me anyway!

I suppose I wanted to start this Blog as a way to document my life and all the wonderful things that have occurred and continue to occur. This year, 2012, I wanted to make a lot of changes, mainly mentally and physically, both good and bad. While the year is officially half over, I suppose I should get documenting.

First off, let me introduce myself. I am Barb, pictured on the right, and my amazing man, Robert, aka Bob, the love of my life, pictured on the left.

I'm not here to go on and on about who and where I have come from. Instead, I come here to give myself a purpose. I want to make a difference in not only my own life, but others lives as well. I want to explore all the opportunities life has and will continue to bring me and hopefully share these experiences with the world. I hope to be an inspiration, motivator, and companion to all that cross my path.

Enjoy reading...I will gladly enjoy hearing your comments...hopefully no rude ones! I look forward to this new chapter in my life...and the many new challenges and rewards that are to come.
