I went for a Spa Manicure at my amazing little hidden treasure - Paris Gallery Salon & Spa. If you live in the Houston/Katy area...go see Damaris...she's amazing!! She has been doing nails for 20+ years and is just the best.
I did a gel french 2 weeks ago and decided I wanted a little color this time. I found a light pink that is perfect for this Houston/Katy SPRING WEATHER were having!
pretty pretty pink gel mani |
My nails are finally growing and are not breaking off! The hard gel helps keep a protection over my nails which is why I LoVe GEL MANI's. They hold up great when I go to boot-camp and am running around with weights and up and down on my mat continuously.
have i mentioned how much i HATE push-ups! |
thinking I want to DIE :-D |
You could not tell but my shins were killing me at this point in the night. I was trying to massage them but nothing was helping :-(
I paused my Polar from my pre-boot-camp run and forgot to re-Start once I started my fitness test 1 mile run...I was pissed to say the least >:-( I assume it was around a 50-100 additional calories burned, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
I do have to say a big THANKS to one of my teammates, he motivated me to keep going as I had started walking because I had a cramp and my shin-splints were causing shooting pains. Without him I would have just continued walking and not made a good time.
I sucked it up, turned the volume up on my iPhone, and booked it. Towards the end, my teammate and I starting sprinting, we raced each other to the finish line and we had a 9:34 minute mile!!!!
A NEW RECORD ALL!!!
I was SO excited when my Trainer blurted out our number. I fell on the ground huffing and puffing and got a BIG high-five. While this may be a small accomplishment in the big picture, it was the triumph for me on my fitness journey I'm on! I think if I remember right, in 2011 when I last tested for boot-camp, I did the same fitness test and was at 11/12-minute mile. I remember being EXHAUSTED after just a 0.25 of a mile.
Thursday turned out to be an AWESOME day and the shin-splints were so worth it!
I'm still on week 1 and I'm expecting results. Let's be realistic...I still have a ways to go. I have to keep reminding myself this quote EVERYDAY!
Made a playlist for my 5K tomorrow...first time I've made a playlist for running. In no particular order...here it is:
If you love Dance music as much as myself than you'll LOVE LOVE some of these songs!
I'm taking a rest day today and plan to stretch out and roll-out my shins (thanks to Janice for saving me with her roller!). Want to be 100% for tomorrows run and set a new goal!
Happy Friday All! I'll post lots of pics of the run so stay tuned!
